Study: Eating Cheese could Be the Key to a Longer Life

If you need more reasons to eat cheese, then read on. A recent study, has suggests that eating cheese could be the key to a longer life.

Recent research from Nature Medicine suggests that consumption of spermidine, a compound found in aged cheese, could be the key to living longer.

Initially, the researchers tested the effects of spermidine on rats and mice, then they found that it increased their average lifespan.

Then the researchers surveyed 800 Italians about their diets and those who reported a higher intake of spermidine were found to have a 40% lower risk of heart failure, lower blood pressure and a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, the study suggests that consuming cheese reduces the risk of heart failure and high blood pressure, which are both leading causes of death.

But before you consume the entire cheese on your fridge, just remember that cheese is high in fat, which could cancel out the effects of spermidine.
The good news is, spermidine is also present in corn, peas, whole grains and soy beans, which are healthier options. You can sonsume 1-3 portions of cheese per week, if you want to boost your lifespan.
